My current paintings use land forms,
houses, garages, and simple structures to help create
a familiar atmosphere for the viewer. The compositions
are arranged in large/simple geometric shapes to help
amplify the emotional impact of the colors used. I
like to observe how the structures we build begin to
meld into the natural landscape as paint weathers and
weeds grow from the corners. Many of my subjects are
depictions of real or imagined Northwest neighborhoods
that have had time for nature to start softening their
edges. I also enjoy composing with architechtural clues
to provide a hint of era and nostalgia.
